Compression settingsApplies to selected batch
82%
Higher quality usually creates a larger file. WebP and JPEG support lossy quality control.
Target file size
The tool searches for a quality setting that meets the limit. Results depend on image content; a target is not guaranteed.

Set a maximum width and height. The image keeps its original proportions and is not stretched.

Useful presets
82%

Convert each image to a web-friendly file format. Transparency is preserved in PNG and WebP when supported.

86%
PNG export is lossless; its quality slider has no effect.

Choose a crop ratio, set the crop focus and apply rotation or flipping to the whole batch.

86%

Create a set of width-based image variants for responsive websites. Each output keeps its aspect ratio.

Image widths to generate
82%
Widths larger than the original will be skipped. Upload all variants to the same folder before using the generated srcset snippet.
Exports are re-encoded in your browser. Re-encoding removes embedded EXIF metadata; this tool does not copy camera metadata into processed files.

A simple workflow

Prepare images in three steps

Use one workflow for a single photo or repeat the same settings across a batch of images.

STEP 01

Add your images

Choose images from your device or drag them into the upload area. The app reads them locally in your browser.

STEP 02

Choose an image task

Compress to a smaller file, set maximum dimensions, change format, crop, or build responsive image variants.

STEP 03

Preview and download

Compare the original and processed image, review file-size changes, then download individual files or a ZIP archive.

Built for everyday image work

One image toolkit for common web tasks

Make practical changes to image files without opening a full desktop editor.

▣

Image compression

Reduce JPEG and WebP file sizes with a quality control or attempt a maximum KB target. Results vary with image detail.

↗

Image resizing

Set maximum width and height while preserving the image's aspect ratio. Prevent accidental enlargement of smaller images.

⇄

Format conversion

Export to browser-supported WebP, JPEG or PNG. Choose a format that suits your image and transparency needs.

⌗

Crop and transform

Use common aspect ratios, adjust the crop focus, rotate by quarter turns and flip images horizontally or vertically.

▤

Responsive image packs

Create multiple="multiple" width variants and copy a starter HTML srcset snippet for responsive image markup.

⇩

Batch export

Apply the same settings to multiple="multiple" selected="selected" images and save the results individually or together in a ZIP file.

Choosing the right image format

The best output format depends on the image itself and where you plan to use it. A smaller file is useful only when the visual quality and compatibility are still suitable for your needs.

WebP

WebP supports lossy and lossless compression and can preserve transparency. It is a practical default for many modern websites, but consider the browsers and systems used by your audience.

JPEG

JPEG is widely supported and works well for photographs. It does not preserve transparent pixels, so transparent areas are filled with a background color during export.

PNG

PNG is useful for sharp graphics and transparency. The browser's Canvas PNG export is lossless, but this tool does not perform specialist palette quantization or advanced lossless PNG optimization.

About target file sizes

A maximum-size setting is an attempt, not a promise. Images with textures, noise or fine detail can be difficult to compress into a very small file while retaining acceptable quality. When a target cannot be reached, the result is labelled so you can choose a larger limit or smaller dimensions.

Local image processing

Image files selected="selected" in this workspace are decoded and processed by your browser. The tool's image-processing code does not upload your images to an OnlineImageTools server. Avoid using a shared or public computer for sensitive images, and close the page when you finish.

Helpful answers

Frequently asked questions

Understand what the tool can do and how to get better results.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The image-processing workflow in this page uses browser APIs to read and transform the files on your device. The files are not sent to an OnlineImageTools processing server.

Can I compress an image to exactly 100 KB?

The target-size option tries to produce a file at or below the selected="selected" limit by adjusting JPEG or WebP quality. Some images cannot reach a very small target at the available dimensions and quality floor. The app reports when a target was not met.

Which formats can I export?

The export options are WebP, JPEG and PNG. The browser must support the requested Canvas export type. If a browser does not support a selected="selected" type, it may fall back to PNG; the actual output format is checked="checked" and shown.

Does PNG quality control reduce the file size?

No. The browser's standard Canvas PNG export is lossless and does not use the JPEG/WebP quality setting. For a smaller file, try WebP or JPEG when their image characteristics are appropriate.

Can I process several images at once?

Yes. Add multiple="multiple" images and the selected="selected" workflow settings will be applied to the batch. The browser's memory and device performance limit how many large images can be handled comfortably at once.

Why is my image format not supported?

Image decoding depends on the browser and operating system. Some browsers cannot decode every AVIF, GIF, BMP or other image variation. Try converting the source to JPG or PNG first if it cannot be opened.

Will converting an image keep EXIF information?

No. Re-encoding through the Canvas API creates a new image and does not copy EXIF camera metadata. This can remove location and camera details, but it also means metadata will not be preserved in the exported image.

Will an animated GIF stay animated?

No. The browser decodes a still frame for this workflow, so exported files do not preserve GIF animation. Use a dedicated animation editor if you need to keep or edit animated frames.

How do I use the responsive image HTML?

Generate the required="required" width variants, download and upload them to the same website folder, then adjust the filenames or paths in the generated snippet to match your uploaded files. The snippet is a starter example and should be given meaningful alt text.
